Where Have I Been?, You ask!

Hello, again!  I am excited to back sewing after almost a year away.  Since my last post I have been very busy.  What have I been doing? I'm so happy you asked.  Well, I got married, became semi-housewife and caregiver and joined my church choir!

Got Married

It's a long story so I'll start from the beginning.  We were actually married in April 2016 at our church with only a few of the church member in attendance.  I Really wanted to have wedding with family and friends and of course wedding pictures!  So I planned a small wedding and it took place in November 2016. Now I have great memories and lots of pictures which I will no doubt share with you.  Especially since I made my bridesmaids dresses as well as my veil.

Staying at Home

Now that I'm married, (we recently celebrated our 1 yr anniversary!) working as an insurance agent has been drastically reduced.  Taking care of my husband and my disabled brother-in-law has taken up much of my time.  But what can say, marriage agrees with me.  I still work as a Health & Life Insurance Agent however,  only from home now. I also try to be active with my church choir and singing has become a daily activity.

Sewing

I enjoy making my own clothes, and as a beginner I want to sharpen my skills and become the best that I can.  My ultimate goal is to design for plus sizes, women and men.  One of the member in my Facebook group Sewing for Beginners posted about an online sewing school called
, "Sew It! Academy". You can learn to sew through a series of courses, projects with video instruction and it's associated with Mimi G Style.  I have always noticed her Simplicity patterns on my frequent trips to Joanns. It has been a month now since I enrolled and I am so happy that I did.

I'll be posting more about my experience at Sew It! Academy.  If you would like more information about it please send me an email and I'll be happy to share.

More pictures from the wedding.

Project 1 Butterick Pattern B6222

Butterick Pattern B6222 Review My first sewing project was Butterick Pattern B6222 by Connie Crawford. I choose this pattern because it appeared versatile in the design, loose fitting and not your grannies dress.  I purchased the pattern from Jo-Ann’s (It’s the only retail fabric store I know of in my area; except for Wal-Mart). I paid $11.97 which is 40% off the regular price of $19.95.  (I probably could have purchased it cheaper online and I wasn’t sure if Wal-Mart still sold Butterick). What I already knew. I figured I already had a good foundation to stand on, since I had been helping my mother sew for as long as I could remember. I personally already have the basic equipment and supplies I needed to begin, however if your completely new to sewing and need a guide on the type of equipment and supplies to buy for a beginner. Jo-Ann’s Fabric Store has a handy dandy brochure called, “Sew 101 Guide” and it’s free. I picked one up at the store, but it can also be downloaded fr...
